After attending the Career Symposium and talking with some interesting architecture folk I decided to rework my thesis proposal in order to put it into terms of equity. I looked at the potential benefits of mycelium and categorized them into the intersections between economic, social, and environmental equity or all three. I also revised my thesis booklet to make it shorter and more to the point. I’m going to be adding more as I check things off my to do list so that hopefully I will have it done by the time I graduate. I’ve also uploaded various other projects and have been revising them as I go. Here is the most recent copy:
The review went pretty well although I thought the time was too short to have a good two way conversation with the reviewers. The structure of my building is pretty simple as my existing building is on a rigid 24′ on center column grid so we didn’t end up talking about structure for very long. I think the most important part of my project will be developing in the next three weeks: ECS. I did get some good ideas about day lighting, ventilation, and water collection strategies from the reviewers so I’m looking forward to developing these ideas further.
