Dana Buntrock "Materials and Meaning in Contemporary Japanese Architecture"

In her lecture concerning materiality and meaning in contemporary Japanese architecture, Dana Buntrock introduced two predominant schools of thought in Japanese design. The “white school” values an architecture designed to be of an age, and is influenced by state of the art technologic processes. Buntrock listed Toyo Ito as exemplary of white school architecture. Conversely, the “red school”  values an architecture designed to age, and is concerned with an evolution of traditional artisanship and exaltation in physical experience. The architecture of Fujimori is more indicative of the red school. In the spectrum between red to white, Buntrock noted a group which she considers  the “pink school” consisting of architects like Tadao Ando and Kengo Kumo.

  • As a holiday home owner in full time employment, and susceptible to the typical PAYE tax circumstances, this a genuine blow! If vacation home owners were to make themselves a ‘company’, might this be aside of continuing in order to state tax relief in opposition to deficits and investment capital expenses as at present?
