Micro, Macro, Review Re-Cap

MICRO

I’ve already blogged about the micro study so I won’t re-hash it here – instead see this post.

MACRO & REVIEW

It seems most appropriate to talk about these two things simultaneously so here goes…

I feel like my biggest struggle with this project thus far has been the site planning and its relationship to the program.  Again, on friday I had push back on the program.  I’m torn between the idea that I’m either not selling it enough or it’s just the wrong program.  And if it’s the wrong program, as it was mildly suggested on friday, then I’m not really sure what to do at this point. I’m personally set on doing the program that I’ve been working on thus far but without fail each review has included the statement “I think you should revisit your program” and then this time around statements like I’m not sure what the project is here despite the specificity of the program.  Which suggests to me that I either one: change my program this week and don’t look back or two: tweak my current program to “fit” the site.  That being said, I don’t feel the review went badly just raised some important questions in my head which I think I need to address now.  My big goal for today (monday) is to have a little charrette with myself and to try to hash out some of the site planning issues I’ve been having – including but not limited to:

addressing/not addressing the street edge

looking at multiple buildings – a mini-networked-campus of sorts if that makes sense

arrangement of the program & its relationship to the bridge (attached, detached, around, perpendicular to, etc. etc.)

*** UPDATE I’m not changing my program…
