I have examined and compared three different projects that function as environmental education centers and create an intimate connection with their landscape.

IslandWood is notable for its immediate connections to the surrounding living landscape. Additionally, its program serves 6th, 7th, and 8th graders (my target age group) with similar goals and values as my project.
Craig Thomas Discovery & Visitor Center is interesting not for its connection to its immediate context (which is limited), but for its success in creating a built form that uniquely embodies the Grand Teton landscape overall.
EcoCenter is unique in this study as a facility that brings ecological sensitivity to a severely disturbed urban site as well as to an urban community that suffers social and environmental isolation.
