Artifact

The site as it exists–

Colors: gray, light yellow, red, green, black

Materials: concrete, brick, dirty glass, spray paint, found items / trash, metal, tile

Reactions: honest, industrial, strong, alternative, hypothetical

These are images of the artifacts I made to express my emotional reaction to the site combined with the program. I see the corrugated cardboard and metal mesh as expressing the industrial and pragmatic structure of the site. The newspaper, the blue and the pink represent the natural human energy that change the character of the underlying structure. The industrial structure acts like a scaffold for the natural energy to grow upon. At this site with this program, without the inorganic scaffold, the organic energy would grow wild and without purpose. Without the organic energy, the inorganic scaffold would sit uselessly. Together they can create a more vibrant and purposeful site.
