For my final project, I wish to explore ideas of adaptable flatpack light fixtures- a simple fixture made from everyday materials that can be constructed by the user.

I would like to explore how these lamps can adapt to the needs of the user-  possibly how the same lamp can be effective for task lighting or for evening/mood lighting- by manual manipulation by the user, the light would  to be appropriate for either type of lighting.  By changing apertures on the surface of the lamp, or by rotating pieces, or possibly letting the lamp expand or contract.   would allow this adaptability.

I have been looking at various flat-pack lamp designs, as well as designs by the sophisticated work of Hoberman Transformable Design.  I hope to combine these ideas into an interesting luminaire design.  I plan to use the Laser Cutter for the final fabrication of my work.
