Pledging Process

Every member of Alpha Phi Omega started as a pledge. It’s an incredibly rewarding experience that will integrate you into the community that is our organization. To start, you’ll need to complete the same requirements of any other APO member:
3 Leadership Points: These are experiences that help you grow as a leader and can range from participating in a committee to chairing your own event.
5 Fellowship Hours: A fellowship hour is any hour spent with other APO members when you’re not volunteering. We plan movie nights, study sessions, and even trips around Eugene.
10 Service Hours: Our core purpose is service, so this requirement will take the most time. However, we have plenty of volunteer opportunities throughout the term with a variety of partner organizations.

There are some requirements that are specific to pledges, which include the following:
Pledge Class: Every week, we’ll spend an hour learning about Alpha Phi Omega and its history. The purpose of pledge class is to prepare you for the pledge test you’ll take in order to be initiated. Don’t worry, you’ll get plenty of help.
Chapter Attendance: We have one hour-long chapter meeting every week, and they’re the best way to stay involved and get to know other members. You will need to attend so that you can stay updated in everything APO.
Ceremonies: We have two formal ceremonies each term: Pledge Ceremony, in which we introduce the new pledge class to the chapter, and Initiation, in which admitted members will be formally initiated.  Pledges are required to attend both ceremonies to become full members of Alpha Phi Omega.
