Ahh Fridays. That means another BA 199 class to look forward to. I woke up and got ready for the day. I put on my blue shirt, pants, and shoes, but went with no tie today. Once I was ready, I began to head out and go to class. I put on my headphones and put on the song “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” by Mavin Gaye. This was my inspirational song for the day to get me pumped up for class.
When I got to class, I sat down and was prepared to learn. Tayah introduced us to a woman who works in the business department at the University. She explained to us the process about to how to be admitted into the School of Business. We needed to get a minimum of a 3.0 GPA in our core business classes such as BA 101, Math 241, Econ 201 etc. This would guarantee us admission to the major. Once she told us that, it immediately hit me that this was real. I had to work super hard in all of my classes and get at least a 3.0 because I really want to get into the School of Business. It will be very competitive so I just know that if I work hard, I will be able to reach this goal.
After, Tayah introduced to us the seniors that were in the School of Business and they talked to us about the classes they took after they had been admitted. Some examples were Finance classes, Accounting classes, Sports Business classes, Marketing classes, etc. They told us what they liked about the classes they took and what they did not like. They also gave us recommendations of classes that they felt were great and would benefit us in the field that we would want to pursue. I definitely found this very helpful because I want to pursue the Sports Business or the Marketing field and knowing which classes would be helpful in the future definitely benefits me.
What I got out of this class was a boost for working harder to pursue my goal of getting into the School of Business. It definitely hit me and I kept thinking “Wow this is real” in my head the whole time. I feel that with this mentality and a positive attitude, I know that I can succeed. This can be beneficial in the future because it can help me keep a positive attitude and that will get me farther in life.
