To understand fully the connection between American culture and the power of gender, I decided to interview both my mother and father, Bruce and Carolyn Simon. To get both perspectives, I also decided to ask my mothers parents, Jean and Colin Flint. By asking the same questions, it allowed me to compare and contrast the answers given, and I related this back to gender and gender bias. This information ensured that I could collect data without having a generational gap. Below are the questions I will be asking each participant.
1. What is the main thing you are responsible for on Thanksgiving?
2. Why do you think certain genders are more responsible for holding certain traditions?
3. Was this responsibility passed down to you by your parents, or did you decide it yourself?
4. Lastly, do you think there is a connection between American culture (specifically Thanksgiving) and Power (Gender)?
