About Me

Hi everyone. My name is Amanda Barker. I was born and raised in Bakersfield, California. I am currently a senior at the University of Oregon and am majoring in Journalism and Spanish. I love Journalism and I love big cities, so I plan on moving to New York City or San Francisco after I graduate to write for Vogue, GQ or Vanity Fair.

I never actually wanted to go to Oregon because I really wanted to go to the University of Notre Dame in Indiana. My uncle attended the University, and my dad has been a die hard fan since I was a baby. But my life took a turn for the best. My whole family and I are now HUGE Duck fans.

I have a lot of hobbies, which include running, playing soccer, writing for various publications, cooking and hanging out with friends. I would have to say I love surfing more than anything, though. Some of my greatest memories are surfing C Street in Ventura, California with my best friend Chantelle. Nothing gets rid of stress more than riding a wave and feeling the cool salt water splashing against your skin and face.

I’m different and proud of it.

“If we are afraid to be different, how can we make a difference in this world.”
