We are proud to announce that we have released an online tool for generating probes for letter-sound knowledge assessment that can be found at https://lsail.shinyapps.io/letters/.
Two types of probes can be created: a fluency probe, which repeats letters in a random sequence, and a survey probe, which assesses each letter once. Users can control which letters get assessed and can even add letters or letter combinations (e.g., blends, digraphs, diphthongs, special characters).
Currently available in English, Iñupiaq/Iñupiatun, Tlingit/Lingít Yoo Xʼatángi, and Yup’ik/Yugtun, it has a mechanism to suggest additional languages. A representative of the project will respond to suggestions as quickly as possible.
