AAD 550: Reflection

This term has expanded on my past experience of looking at art through an academic lens.

Previously, I have considered groups under the terms genres, subcultures, and culture. Now there is a connecting term (art world) that blurs that lines between different categories and allows for movement between areas or roles of participation and aesthetics. The term art world allows for an all inclusive approach to the analysis of art and the role it plays in society.

Through this course, I have also learned to apply transmedia examples outside the realm of storytelling. Transmedia is an ever changing subject with the use of new technologies. More importantly, participation in an art world can be explained through transmedia examples as roles of participation changes.

Especially during Module 2, I have come to take into consideration the political influences and implications in art. In the past, I have used my analytical skills to examine moral anxieties and hopes and societal rebellion in art without taking into consideration what politics have come into play with that art world.
