Image Formatting and Optimization

 

Free Photo Editing Applications:

GIMP (Windows, macOS, Linux)

Recommended by CollectionBuilder for image editing. Free and open-source editing software

Squoosh

Recommended by CollectionBuilder for image optimization. It is free to use and you can change the file size and resolution. For photographs with a resolution over 200 dpi, the online version may be slower to load for editing purposes.

MacOS Preview 

Apple’s proprietary image viewer and editor. If you open an image using Preview, you can view the DPI (resolution) by navigating to the toolbar and selecting:

‘Tools’  –> ‘Show Inspector.’

You are able to adjust the size and resolution of a photograph by selecting:

‘Tools’ –> Adjust Size’

Free Audio Editing Applications:

Audacity (Windows, macOS, Linux) 

Free, open source audio editing software. You are able to record, add sound effects, and edit multiple tracks in the editor. No prior experience with audio editing is required to use this software and it has extensive documentation (see below).
