Reflection:
The assignment about remix taught me about copyright as a historic, cultural and economic paradigm and its value to creative works in so many ways. First of all, I knew so little about copyright because all along, I’ve always thought that copyright was just so a company would claim something is theirs.
This assignment was the most enjoyable topic I’ve had. I got the experience to be an artist by thinking of ten words about what it meant to be an artist. Many of my words included what I have learned overall in this course, naming each week’s topic. My whole life, I’ve always wanted to be an artist, so I’ve been taking art classes every year since I was 5 years old. My human values are represented in my artwork, and I get my inspiration sometimes from historic artworks or from spirituality. I have definitely learned a lot about art through a deeper understanding from this class.
Goals:
• Think about the combination of copyright and creativity most songs have
• Explore more user-generated content
•Understand cultural media
