About Your Scholarship
Award: KENT M. MOREHEAD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
History of the Scholarship:
Established in 1998 by Richard and Marylyn Morehead, this scholarship celebrates the life of their son, Kent. Although not a teacher himself, Kent strongly believed that a single teacher could be a vital element in a young person’s life. The scholarship will be awarded to a promising College of Education student who demonstrates the abilities and commitment to be an outstanding teacher.
The award recipients will be selected on the basis of the following criteria:
• The scholarship will be awarded annually to a junior, senior or 5th year student in the College of Education teacher preparation programs.
• The award may be used for tuition and fee assistance, registration for seminars and workshops, to purchase specialized, publications, and/or materials needed to support the student’s study.
• Recipients of the award will have proven prior academic success.
• Recipients of the award must be Oregon residents.
• Financial need is not to be considered.
