About Your Scholarship
Award: HILL M. WALKER LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP
History of the Scholarship:
This scholarship was established in honor of internationally known educator and scholar, Hill M. Walker, Pd.D. in recognition of his mentorship and his profound impact on educational and social services. It is supported by colleagues, friends and family of Dr. Walker.
Dr. Walker is a UO Emeritus Professor of Special Education and co-director of the University of Oregon’s Institute on Violence and Destructive Behavior (IVDB). Walker’s research interests include social skills assessment and intervention, violence prevention, early intervention, school safety, and longitudinal research.
The purpose of the Fund is to provide financial assistance to a graduate student in the College of Education
The award recipients will be selected on the basis of the following criteria:
• Demonstrated academic success
• Focus on children and youth with emotional and behavioral disorders or problems
• Preference given to additional focus on public school and related educational settings
• Preference given first to doctoral students, then to master’s students
