Award: MCCLAIN FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP

History of the Scholarship:

Anita McClain Haley established the McClain Family Scholarship in 2021. Anita received her undergraduate and doctoral degrees in Education from the UO. Now retired, Anita was a Professor of Education at Pacific University for 25 years. Anita was awarded the Outstanding Alumni award from the College of Education in 2002 for her contributions to literacy education, her service to the teaching profession, and her community volunteer work.

She has been serving as a member of the COE’s Dean’s Advisory Council for over a decade. Anita enjoys gardening, reading, and socializing which she does by playing golf and tennis. She also loves to spend time with her daughter, son-in-law and two grandsons.

The award recipients will be selected on the basis of the following criteria:

· Scholarship is open to a student enrolled and in good standing in any program within the College of Education
