Great Work!
Great work today, everyone!
We had 22 visitors who ranged from specific areas of the sciences (physics, math, & biology, for example), Architecture & Allied Arts programs, the Museum of Natural & Cultural History, and many other interested parties.
Each of them spoke to us with high regard about your enthusiasm & energy, knowledge, and creativity.
We look forward to celebrating your achievements with you tonight at Yogurt Extreme. We’ll be at the 13th Avenue location around 6:15pm.
Also, for those of you who said you have interest, start thinking about the Undergraduate Research Symposium (Info at: http://undergradsymposium.uoregon.edu/). Robert and I would like to work with those of you interested to propose a symposium tabling session similar to what we did today.
Kudos!

Tomorrow (showcase time!) & Upcoming Schedule Reminders
Hi all,
Just a note that Robert & I are really looking forward to tomorrow — and hope that you are too! We see how you’ve been progressing on your blogs since yesterday, and it’s all looking great. Keep going.
We’ve heard from folks in Landscape Architecture, the art museum, some of our guest presenters, faculty in Arts & Administration, and others who are planning to stop in and see your great work. They are very excited to see what you have created. This will be fun!
And yes, I had confirmation this morning that the tables should be there so we should be able to arrange the room how we would like. Please come as early as you are able to help set up. We can move chairs to the hallway (within reason) and so forth to set the room up as needed.
A few scheduling reminders:
- Thursday (tomorrow): Set up and check in from about 9:30-10:15a.m. — Final project complete and professionalized
Guests arrive between 10:20-11:35. — Share your work & have fun talking to engaged members of campus
Take down/Wrap up 11:35-11:50 — Thanks for a good term. Goodbye for now & where might this project go next?
Yogurt Extreme on 13th (by Duckstore) 6:15p.m. — Social hour - Monday, March 14 — Final paper (Report 5) due by 5pm. Drop off at one of our offices or direct email.
- Tuesday, March 15 — Final Journal entry due: What did you learn about your project through the final display? What are your project’s strengths at this point? Weaknesses? What are opportunities you can build on if you would continue with this project? What may be threatening to or risking the best outcomes for the project?
- Wednesday, March 16 — Donuts & Puppy time!
See you tomorrow.

Blog Project Sites Set Up Intro Front Page, Journal Page, Custom Menu
All,
Hi, know there is a bit of confusion for some of you about what should your project site look like. So for your project site let’s do the following so it reflects more of a focus on your research project and Creative Display and not focus so much on the Journal as your front page.
(If you have done this already you can ignore this email!).
First create an Introduction page and a Journal page by:
1. Going into your site Dashboard.
2. Click on Pages and Add New.
3. Add an Introduction page and publish this.
4. Add a Journal page and publish this.
Now you need to reset the site so the Introduction Page is your front/home page and the Journal Page is where all your Journal entries go. Do this by:
1. Going into your site Dashboard.
2. Locate the Settings area.
3. Click on Reading.
4. Find the top “Front page displays” area.
5. Click on the option for “A static page (select below)”
6. For “Front page:” select in the drop down options your Introduction page.
7. For the “Posts page:” select in the drop down options your Journal page.
8. Save Changes. (scroll down to the bottom for the “Save Changes” button)
Now your site’s home page will be the Introduction page so it is now VERY important to put on this Introduction page some information about your project. You should have from our previous work session on that hand out we all went through step-by-step an Introduction paragraph, which you can add. Also don’t forget pictures of your Creative Display and research here too!
And any Journal postings you add will automatically go to the Journal page.

Any questions let me know, and also let me know if you want to meet to go over any of this.
Best,

Silent Sky Journal Entry and Achievement
All,
Hi, we wanted to make sure the Journal entry for the production and your “Theatrical Science” Achievement made sense overall.
Due by this Tuesday (March 1st) 10:00am is your Journal #17, which according to the Course Schedule listing is just to address the following:
Journal Entry: How are you thinking like an artist (actor, designer, director) in new ways after seeing Silent Sky and talking with the producers? In what ways does this production assist your thinking about your own project? In what ways does this performance change your views about scientific discovery? (Journal #17). Post by 10a.m., Tuesday, March 1st.
For the Theatrical Science Achievement you just need to address this: “Did you attend the theatre production and document in detail your experience in your Journal?”
We will give you credit for the Theatrical Science Achievement by reviewing your Journal #17.
If you were not at the Saturday show with us, please include in your Journal #17 a photograph or scan of your ticket or playbill (or selfie at the theatre space from your attendance at the production if you have that!).
Best,
Robert and Julie
