Members of the local community are invited to a public reception celebrating the opening of a new exhibition in Knight Library entitled “Creating the Beautiful, Indestructible Dream of Self-Determination.” The reception is scheduled for Friday, January 21, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in Knight Library’s Browsing Room.
Light refreshments will be served, and the exhibit development team will be on hand to discuss the exhibition, which explores the concepts of diversity and social change in late 20th-century Oregon as depicted in photographs held by the UO Libraries’ Special Collections and University Archives. The display showcases the Hoedads treeplanting cooperative, the Rootworks intentional community, the UO football program, and the women’s sports programs in UO Athletics.
The show was developed by UO students in an Arts and Administration exhibition workshop run by Dr. Phaedra Livingstone, with the assistance of the UO Libraries’ Exhibits Program staff.
