A&AA Equity and Diversity Committee Invites Fellowship Proposals

The A&AA Equity and Diversity Committee invites fellowship proposals that address issues of equity and diversity within the School.  Two to four fellowships of $500.00 – $1000.00 each will be awarded by the committee. Funding is for activities occurring between Spring term 08 and the end of Winter term 09.

Faculty and students, individually or in collaboration may apply. Applications from teams of faculty and students are encouraged. Proposals could involve the development of a course, a workshop, one or more events, or facilities improvements that address issues of equity and diversity within A&AA.

Attached is a detailed description of the fellowship and the application procedure. The deadline for submitting proposals is February 20, 2008. Proposals should be submitted to the A&AA Dean’s office. Please feel free to contact me for additional information.

AAD / ARE Alum, Kim Donahey is appearing in the Lord Leebrick production of “Memory House.” Theatre critic Dorothy Velasco describes Donahey’s performance as sending “sparks into the air…Donahey’s line readings are often unexpected, giving them a new twist of meaning.”

The A&AA Library and TEP will show you how to navigate this new visual resource and explore how to incorporate these images into Blackboard and PowerPoint. Additionally, there will be hands-on lab time to learn how to search for, upload, and present the vast image resources.

“Visual literacy is the ability to understand and produce visual messages.” Academic applications extend beyond visual studies and visual culture to include programs that teach students across the disciplines to use, create, evaluate, and critique visual messages in daily life. Expanding on the subject of “how to use images in your PowerPoint presentations”, this panel discussion will take a serious look at how visual images best assist in the dissemination and absorption of knowledge. An informal discussion and snacks will follow.
