03 Individual Site Analysis,using site in Portland SE (individual work):

  • Written Paragraph: Project objective statement (3-4 sentences max): What is a Technology Startup and what positive or negative conditions exist at the site? Who does it affect? Why is it important?
  • Qualities: What are the qualities that that support your project objective? How do you describe this in words, diagrams, collages (Photoshop and Illustrator) or indicators of those qualities in public space? (ex. qualities from the first exercise).
  • Informational graphics and quantifiable statistics in Portland compared to familiar cities (ex. NYC, other cities, or national averages).  Include relevant understandings over time (24 hours of day, 7 days of week, seasons?) (Ex.: entrepreneurship, new startups, bike riders, age demographics per city, rainfall, cloudy days, avg temperature)

  • Quality On-Site: Using a specific point location from the study area, diagram the highlighted three qualities as indicators. (Diagram Axonometric Drawing or over a photograph)
