Eugene prides itself on being accessible to many but attending the farmers market and crossing the street with copious cars to get from one part of the farmers market to the next is a stress inducing experience. It adds chaos to the environment where there are many families and people that should not have to worry about taking a step in the street and having an interaction with vehicles.
There are many benefits to decreasing vehicles driving through the middle of the farmers market such as safety and cleaner air.
Good.
We are talking street buffers?
Maybe look up actual incidents and injuries from auto / pedestrian accidents here and elsewhere.
Also what are perceptual issues which are also very important?
Who is most sensitive? children? Are there children downtown? Why not? WHat would attract them?
