Rhino for Windows and Elk plugin for Grasshopper
Rhino for Windows installation
We will use Rhino 8 for Windows (Rhino 7 should be ok but we may have to save out v7 for some files). 90 day evaluation for free and a Student license for $195 is a great value as it is a one-time purchase and CAN be used professionally after school. Please email McNeal Rhino with your University ID as required. They will respond shortly. *You may also have access to the software via the University’s license using VPN and a virtual machine.
Rhino Grasshopper Plugin Elk installation
You will need to download the Elk 2.2.2 on food4rhino.com or enter “elk” into search. ***Download zip file but please DO NOT unzip it. Right click, properties and then look for “unblock” and check off, if that appears.
- unzip.
- then Launch Rhino and type “Grasshopper” in the command line to launch it.
- Select “File” then “Special Folders” then “Components.” That will open a Windows similar to C:\Users\SPERANZA\AppData\Roaming\Grasshopper\Libraries
- copy paste Elk folder or file here
- close and restart Rhino and Grasshopper.
