Societal evolution is created by an interconnected web of events. The evolution of each event/societal feature is dependent on how the others evolve, meaning the correct strategy to get towards an end goal can never be fully known. One can only decide in the moment the best way to move forward, but that path should always be re-evaluated, considering how other social features have changed and evolved over time.

This thought is somewhat relaxing to me, that we can’t simply know how to “save the world”, we can only do our best in the moment, and what we do right now can help others to do better in the future. If we are to aim to find a way to “fix our system”, the best we can focus on is encouraging exploration of alternatives towards a collective goal instead of imposing one correct way to behave.
