It is important to build your project topic with some sense of site context. Please see the list of work to do below. We can afford the time to go to the site BUT only if you have your Eugene urban problem in mind via your thorough research.
URBAN DESIGN THEORY
- Make a blog post with simple text paragraphs, any simple hardline diagrams, GIF or movies, research citations about your problem of interest in Eugene and globally. Review all the blog posts! Watch. **We will use your topic problem to get into groups soon! [blog category 1.1 Research]
- Read and comment on 3 ideas Speranza, P. (2017) “A human-scaled GIS: Measuring and visualizing social interaction in Barcelona’s Superilles” Journal of Urbanism: International Research on Placemaking and Urban Sustainability” This is a very dense but important reading!!! Rueda couldn’t steal it. lol. [1.2 Reading]

- Maps using Rhino Grasshopper Elk – Please see the template on Teams under General/01 Templates/ Week 1 GIS Elk Elephant. Use this to start to develop backgrounds maps:
- Tigard video 3 orientation plans 1) City (mostly satellite view), 2) District (mostly line work and icons) and later the 3) Neighborhood / Superilla 3×3 block Map. [blog category: 1.3 Drawings] I will go over how Grasshopper Elk Elephant works on Tuesday.
We will go to the site Thursday. I think it makes more sense to gather Tuesday to talk about urban problems and review start of the work.
