Paragraph 1. Shared Streets: What problem; who affects; why important
The shared streets aim to make certain areas more pedestrian friendly by being more walkable and mixed use with restricted limitations for vehicles which enter the area. Such restrictions may include: slower speed limits, to increase awareness and allow for more time to react; and authorized vehicles only, to limit traffic in the area. The problem at hand is how reliant on vehicles some locations are and that cities can find alternatives to enhance the city life as well as the environment. It affects the people of the city primarily but can be seen to have lasting effects on the environment as a whole.

Paragraph 2. Specific problem in Barcelona; qualities to measure; What method to start to study; research question related to method.
A city no longer as dominated by cars, increasingly catered more towards pedestrians, hopes to take the famous five existing superblocks and duplicate them 495 more times. A specific problem that has been a common occurrence in other large scale urban plans is the effect it may have on residents and possible gentrification. Some qualities to measure could be associated with the amount and quality of green spaces or open views people have access to. Alternatively, one could approach the standards in the quality of living in certain areas and in relation to the amount of money one pays.
