The Good

Im convinced the data collection and GIS VIZ TOOL method is happening. It took time but everyone can not do it. You are learning Grasshopper, data collection and data visualization.

The projects are very strong and the reviewers did not question the projects. In some cases they added anecdotes to your stories.

Experimentation in media is happening.

The less good

Clarity. I will get to this presentations but the overall organization of logic and clarity, or even the communication of the story was very difficult to understand.

Intro Title and 3 sentence abstract is essential.

You must build the conceptual legend and related visual communication to begin (ex. color).

Background photos, line drawings and or images were not there or not careful enough and that made it very difficult to understand. Consider taking ownership of these images such as enhanced vivid nature or color.

The power of this method is the human scale. Please please please zoom way in. If you are measuring curbs, an image or example drawing of this is valuable. The data collection has to happen at masse now – via street view, via Yelp, but potentially more and bigger data sets are required to get to any animation (or comparison site). The harder part was really mastering the method. Custom work in GIS VIZ TOOL should be happening.

Focus on delicacy of drawings. Line weights and line types. background should be lighter than data. Text (Human component Justified Text) should really push HEIRARCHY of size. For line work consider patterns for fills in Illustrator. ***Call out findings on the image in a new visual language (color, size, dashed box).

The less effective

Presentation approach was very irregular. This could be a lack of presentation organization, practicing presenting for 5 minutes or images. This is not about judgement of the aesthetics but the presentation has to be taken seriously- timed, concise, following graphic material (almost silent at times). We can grow from this but confidence comes from knowing you have extensive work.

Vivid

  • Some images must be life-like. Vincent will record an auto-entourage tutorial. Lets try it for people and/or vegetation.

Data Chart is essential

  • Edit now. Remove indicators. Let is go (Valeria). Do you have to talk about each indicator? Danger of combining indicator data.

How to collect data over time (disagree with Kevin on this point)?

  • This has to relate to your timeline. It can be a speculative future. Can you use Enscape or Lumion and change the sun / clouds?

Specialization

  • Team members should take on methods related expertise. Do you want grades as group or via individually labeled deliverables?

Final Presentation Deliverable

  • Im convinced that it should be recorded. You can speak over moments but if necessary I can explain Adobe Premiere. Clarity of the idea is essential (Vincent)
