Affordable housing in Eugene

A large problem facing Eugene in my opinion is the lack of affordable housing in the area. Most housing developments in Eugene cater to those who enjoy living in either high-end homes or like to be pushed into suburbia. What Eugene lacks in the city is large low-income housing options that are accessible to our homeless community and that these housing communities are close to safe facilities where they can get the medical help that they need or rehabilitation to then reincorporate them into society. In order for the homelessness crisis of Eugene to come to an end, we need to help these less fortunate people get off the streets of central Eugene and into safe spaces where they can start to enrich their own lives. Currently, there are about 2,165 homeless people in Eugene and we could drastically decrease those numbers.
