Assignment for Tuesday: Data Collection, Viz + Movie Outline

Local Code(lecture)

Movie Outline

  1. Introduction: What is the Problem (sound and visual is important)
  2. Background:  History, Theory Research, Info Graphics, Theoretical Framework (you will come back to this)
  3. Method: Background maps
    1. Background Maps: City and District / Neighborhood
    2. Research questions
    3. Site Proper
    4. Hypothesis and expected
    5. Sensors: what did you use? Short clips of you using it.
    6. How sensors were deployed – where and how long: time and space
  4. Data Collection Explanation
    1. What worked and what was a problem
    2. 2D plans of each data (Title, subtitle, data dictionary, icon; Analysis of 2-3 examples)
      1. baseline comparisions
    3. Graphs and 3D data at sight. Some explanations / analysis of data
  5. Findings
    1. List of 2-3 findings as bullet points
  6. Design
    1. How the data and analysis informed the overall design / program selection
    2. Zoom-in aspects of precedents (citations)
    3. How data will be actively passed to people as 1) situated technology and 2) app (app can be the info portal)
      1. Abstract data and or numerical, type, etc
  7. End with an abstract feeling / experience of health and pleasure from your design

Some points

  • Really think about timing
  • Text on screen especially as section breaks
  • Never more than words or 3 sentences on the screen at once
  • audio level
  • start narration. Consider 1-3 sentences per section. You dont need to talk over everything
  • Background music or background sounds related to phenomena
  • 16:9 format
  • **Google Earth Studio and After Effects to come
  • Pre-Final review in 2 weeks

///

Data Collection

  • 3×3 non-sensors
  • sensors at site
  • sensors at baseline
  • consider / agree to class sensors

Design

  • It starts with the experience and quality – NOT the object design
  • then phases of information, quality of information, who is experiencing it, and when? how to visualize that
  • field condition of design on site proper and or 3×3
  • do you subtly enhance what is there (trees, lights, sand) and or enhance your programming idea. but focus on embedding information into that urban design.

***Each group to tell me their priorities for this class

**signup times in the next 2-3 days

***Must format for blog!  Jpgs, not too big, embed movie link via Vimeo or Youtube
