1.1 – Problem of Interest
Community/ Neighborhood Identity and Vibrancy in Eugene:
As a resident of Eugene for the last few years, I’ve observed the lack of identity within Eugene neighborhoods. Walking down 11th Ave, arguably one of the busiest and most diverse connections in Eugene, I see a lack of vibrancy and cohesiveness within its connecting neighborhoods. Without a true sense of place in your neighborhood, our community connections weaken, and how we operate day-to-day results in a feeling of isolation with poor implications on mental health. Not only this but creating inclusive access within your local area (without a vehicle) to useful amenities contribute the most to reinforcing a successful urban plan and neighborhood/community with identity.
Implementing more multi-use buildings, green spaces, and social hubs within your local area will help improve the vibrancy and community support.

Great!
What is social cohesion and what is it in EUgene? Who are the groups its uniting?
What is a list of activities? James Corner and Field Operations does a great job of finding programming activities for gathering. Philadelphia also had great programming for a while? Programming activities is important? WHich and why? How might they differ by neighborhood here?
What cities do a great job of this?
