Rhythm of a Russian Dance, Theo Van Doesburg

Rhythm of a Russian Dance, Theo Van Doesburg

Theo Van Doesburg, born in the Netherlands, was a Dutch artist. He excelled in activities such as painting, writing, poetry, and architecture. His early works were influenced by Vincent Van Gogh. Through his work, such as the Cinebal, his technique seems to use a variety, mostly square, of shapes that help create patterns and a unique experience for each individual. The Rhythm of a Russian Dance however, brings out Doesburg’s newly developed style, De Stijl, which focuses on abstract techniques. In this painting he is trying to put art in its simplest form and stray away from the older art traditions like lifestyle.
