Hadid studied math at the American University of Beirut. Later, in 1972, She moved to London to study at the Architectural Association School of Architecture. Koolhaas, who was also a renowned Dutch Architect was Zaha’s Professor. Zaha was also known for her innovative approach to architectural concepts and design process. After her graduation in 1977, she went to work for her former professors, Koolhaas and Zenghelis. Zaha was naturalized and opened her own architectural firm, Zaha Hadid Architects, in London in 1980. In 1988 she finished a series, beyond boundaries. The piece “Victoria City Aerial” was created for a competition which intended to propose a radical redevelopment of what was once West Berlin. The painting intended to achieve a figure ground of Zaha’s vision of Berlin. The art piece was a part of the Ivorypress Collection. During this exhibit of her work she displayed several pieces which were intended to take a deconstructionist approach. This particular piece was apart of a series of paintings. The other half to this specific painting (attached below) “Blue Beam.”
“Although primarily known as an architect, Hadid pursued painting as a related practice, deploying her ideas for buildings for visionary ends…composition of fractured geometries demonstrates an approach known as “deconstructivist architecture.””
