            “For me, abstraction is real, probably more real than nature. I’ll go further and say that abstraction is nearer my heart. I prefer to see with closed eyes.”

        Josef Albers, a German mathematician, and designer, creates his work through abstraction such as “In Open Air.” When it comes to creating or designing, Albers focuses on the disparity between physical fact and psychological effect. The best way for Albers to create is to communicate his thoughts through geometries and color that “contradict” themselves. He designs this way because, in abstraction, it lets you see things in alternate forms. It lets the eye see what it couldn’t before. It’s “more real than nature.”
