“In Open Air” Josef Albers-Eva Harn

Josef Albers, “In Open Air,” 1936, oil on masonite. Albers, born in Germany in 1888, originally worked as a schoolteacher before becoming an artist. He is best known for his “Homage to the Square” pieces, and continues to be credited with forming the basis of modern art today. Albers was a renowned printmaker, photographer, painter, and designer. Because of this, he does not have a singular approach to design, but many of his paintings are oil on masonite.
