Photo points were taken at 14 locations that have been established throughout the past five years of restoration work. Using past images as references and a global positioning system (GPS) to match each points Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM), as well as visual land features such as the surrounding hills, mature trees, and any bends in the roads, or “witness points,” we tried to take photos that were as identical to those taken prior as possible to maximize ease of comparison over time. All pictures were taken with a record card which contained the photo point identification number, and date the photo was taken. In addition, the photographer and device used for photographing was recorded and kept constant.

Photopoint #5 at the main planting site at Whitewater Ranch in 2015. Plantings are almost all entirely new, and are barely visible in their rows.
Photopoint #5 in 2019. Plantings have grown substantially and are well-established in rows along the north bank of Goose Creek. The south bank has also shown dramatic improvement, with tall willows in place of the invasive reed canary grass.
