The new Sports Authority advertisements are truly simplistic and genius at the same time. Anyone that has ever played sports before knows the feeling you get when you are competing. The “gift of sports” is timeless and as Meredith Berg put it, sports are not going to be replaced with a newer version in the coming year. The love of sports lasts a lifetime; therefore the idea of giving a gift that will last a lifetime is priceless.

In an age of technology so many kids are suffering from obesity than ever before. Many sports companies have harped on this fact and tried advertising based on that angle. Sports Authority has gone the opposite route by portraying the true meaning of sports that is the love of the game. There is no need to advertise health facts when you can manipulate consumer’s emotions.

Sports Authority will also be using social media as a means of connecting with its’ customers. Amateur athletes will be able to upload videos that feature themselves on to the companies YouTube channel. This will allow young athletes a platform to show off their skills to the world much like their favorite sports stars are highlighted on sports networks on television.
