Women’s Center – Disability Justice Coordinator
Student Leadership Overview – 2018-19
The Women’s Center seeks to provide leadership skills through experiential learning opportunities and empowerment. Our center focuses on bridging classroom learning and student activism. The WC provides education, advocacy and support via resources, referral, event coordination, support groups, lactation space, quarterly magazine, community outreach, cultural events co-sponsored with various organizations/departments, etc. in order to promote a safe, equitable and affirming campus climate for people of all genders. Student Coordinators comprise the heart of the center’s services and programming efforts.
The Mission:
The mission of the Women’s Center is to advocate for the best educational and working environment for women and people of all genders at the University of Oregon. We accomplish this by working toward societal change, the ending of oppression and by supporting personal growth.

- Take Back the Night Rally, March and Speak Out Against Sexual and Domestic Violence
- OUT/LOUD Queer and Trans Womxn’s Performance Fest
Disability Justice Coordinator Experiential Learning Opportunities and Goals:
- Assisting the Sexual Violence Prevention and Education Coordinator to coordinate Take Back the Night Rally, March and Speak Out Against Sexual and Domestic Violence with 2019’s theme centering Disability Justice
- Developing collaborative relationships with the Accessible Education Center, the University Counseling and Testing Center and University Leadership to advocate for a more accessible campus
- Developing collaborative relationships with other student organizations, including AccessABILITY Student Union, Safe Ride, LGBTQA3, the Duck Nest, etc.
- Hosting workshops and programs designed to educate and inform the community about ableism, accessibility and inclusion
- Initiating critical dialogue with WC Staff regarding national and international events that affect Disabled women and Non-Binary People
- Contributing written content or artwork to The Siren Magazine
Selection Method:
Selection is based on experience with disability justice and familiarity with women’s and gender issues. This Student Leader reports to the Administrative Program Assistant of the Women’s Center.
This Student Leadership Role receives a $250 monthly stipend.
