Applying to be a Co-Director

Applications located on the front window of the office or in the Survival Center mailbox or here: Co-Director Application.

Nearly every term, the Survival Center hires at least one new Co-Director.  Each term, we have between 3 and 5 Co-Directors.  There is no hierarchy in the organization of the Survival Center, so each Co-D has equal responsibilities, duties, and privileges.

What are the responsibilities of a Co-D?

Each Co-Director helps to empower students and community members to create social change.  This occurs in a variety of ways.  Some Co-Directors organize events and workshops to empower those around them.  Some serve as an outlet for student activists who want to start there own projects.  Some help to improve the functionings of the Survival Center as a resource center.  Because you have no boss, how you empower yourself and others through the Survival Center is really up to you.

There are a number of logistical responsibilities including: holding around 10 office hours each week, reserving rooms/tables/spaces for other students and student groups, completing the budget process (in Fall/Winter term), organizing events/presentations/workshops/conferences/etc, checking e-mail, holding weekly Survival Center meetings, attending a weekly MCC meeting, collaborating with other groups and unions, and, most importantly, figuring out the best and most empowering way to spend the nearly $22,000 budget.

If you have any questions, please come talk to any of the current Co-Directors.  Or, e-mail survival@uoregon.edu.
