Classes

We teach two kinds of classes:

PEMA 116: Women’s Self-Defense (2 credits): This class offers a holistic approach to self-defense and sexual assault prevention. You’ll learn awareness and avoidance strategies, verbal self-defense, assertiveness and empowerment, non-violent physical defensive skills, and effective, easy-to-learn fighting techniques. No previous experience or special skills are required.

  • To register for PEMA 116, go to the UO Class Schedule, choose the appropriate term, and look under PEMA (PE Martial Arts) for our current offerings.
  • If finances are a barrier, or if you are a community member who wishes to take the UO class, please contact us for more information.

Workshops for your group or organization: To request a workshop, please use this form: https://rec.uoregon.edu/self-defense. We will work with your group to create a workshop that fits your needs. We generally need at least two weeks of lead time to organize a workshop, so please submit your request early.
