The OGDI sponsored by Oregon Forensics is a summer learning experience like no other in the Pacific Northwest.

We are the only institute in the region hosted at a research university, with access to all the intellectual and cultural amenities that entails. Students at OGDI are able to take advantage of the opportunities such resources provide, including access to a large library system, and advanced instruction in research and argument construction, including from leading UO faculty.

The 2018 institute provides superior instruction in all types of debate, mock trial, and individual events.

Our institute is distinguished by our emphasis on the best possible educational outcomes for students, including preparation for college. An active, flexible, and state-of-the-art curriculum is driven by a faculty with unmatched forensics success and unparalleled academic training.  Students enjoy access to most university facilities and resources.

Forensics – competitive speech – advances the process of human communication, yet very few high school students can explain the importance concepts such as language in persuasion, social construction, political influence, rhetoric, discourse, or ideology. Given the Oregon commitment to teaching and learning, the electives and theory seminars are more advanced and interactive than comparable classes at other institutes.

The mock trial program at the 2018 OGDI will incorporate instruction from UO Law School faculty, judges, and legal experts, as well as focused instruction and practice from the the leaders of Oregon’s nationally-competitive mock trial program.
