Uvlullautaq (good afternoon) and Happy Native American Heritage Month!

Please join the Native American Law Students Association (NALSA) for a panel discussion on:

“Stitching Together the Jurisdictional Crazy Quilt: Tribal Court Jurisdiction and the Future of Federal-State-Tribal Relations”

Nov. 11 at 5pm
Many Nations Longhouse (the building directly behind the law school)

We are very fortunate to have an *incredible* array of panelists, including several Oregon tribal court judges:

Hon. William Johnson, Chief Judge for the Umatilla Tribal Court (and UO Law grad!)
Hon. Don Costello, Chief Judge for the Coquille Tribal Court
Howie Arnett, Adjunct Professor at UO Law
Samuel Kohn, Associate, Dentons (Tribal Litigation practice)

Panelists will discuss topics related to tribal court jurisdiction, including the Dollar General case (petition for cert. recently granted by the US Supreme Court: https://turtletalk.wordpress.com/tag/dollar-general-v-mississippi-band-of-choctaw-indians/), the Violence Against Women Act, and complications of and need for exercising civil and criminal jurisdiction over non-Indians in Indian Country.

Salmon dinner and informal discussions with panelists will take place afterwards! (With plenty of vegetarian options, too!)

Hope to see you all there!
