The Folklore Program at the University of Oregon is proud to announce that Dr. Carol Silverman has been inducted into the Fellows of the American Folklore Society. This accolade is reserved for a select number of eminent scholars each year. In 2014, Dr. Silverman was one of five scholars designated for induction. Carol joins a distinguished group of scholars listed at the Fellows’ website at http://www.afsnet.org/?page=Fellows.
The Fellows is an honorary organization that recognizes members of the American Folklore Society who have made outstanding contributions to folklore studies. It works with the leadership of the Society to sponsor activities that promote the advancement of folklore studies, including a plenary lecture, reception for students and Fellows, breakfast for students, and special awards and projects.
