Meet Sarah Whitling, ELAN’s new Public Relations Chair!

ELAN is pleased to introduce Sarah Whitling, our Leadership team’s new Public
Relations Chair for the 2012/2013 academic year!

Originally from Maine, Sarah Whitling is currently in her second year in the Arts Administration program at the University of Oregon. With a concentration in Museum Studies, Sarah’s passion is very much in the visual arts. She studied photography at Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, MA, and proceeded to work as a photo lab technician at Hunt’s and Video. After a year interning at SPACE Gallery in Portland, ME, Sarah made the cross-country trek to Oregon for her graduate studies. Her research revolves around the provision of professional development and career services to undergraduate fine arts students.

While at the U of O, Sarah has held a variety of leadership positions. As the lead curator for Bridges, she led a two-month long, time-based installation for the Downtown Initiative for the Visual Arts.  Sarah was a co-curator of the What We Carry exhibit and a Production Coordinator ELAN’s annual Beats and Brushstrokes fundraiser. She currently serves as student representative for the ePortfolio Student advisory Group. Sarah is completing two internships this summer – one at the Maine Arts Commission and the other at the Portland Museum of Art. She is very much looking forward to her last year at the U of O and serving as Public Relations Chair for ELAN. When not completely absorbed in the arts, Sarah day dreams of opening ‘Three Sisters Bakery’ with her sister and sister-in-law. Welcome, Sarah!
