Syllabus

This course is a general introduction to contemporary features of East Asian languages and cultures with primary focus on Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. Basic linguistic features, the interaction of language and culture, and current sociolinguistic phenomena will be introduced. The class has no prerequisites and no knowledge of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean language is assumed.
