COACh: Mentorship, Networking and Leadership SP ACS 2018

“COACh: Mentorship, Networking and Leadership”
Presented by Geri Richmond

*Open to men & women Faculty, Researchers, Industry, Government (no grad students or postdocs)

This workshop provides an opportunity to discuss elements that lead to successful mentorship and three types of categories of mentorship. It provides guidelines for the mentor and mentee on setting expectations so conflicts can be avoided and how to have productive conversations that can lead to the desired end result. We will build understanding of mutual interest based negotiations and problem-solving, which is a useful skill in both individual and leadership contexts. Skills will focus on understanding the other parties’ interests as well as negotiating for what you need to be successful. Topics include how to enhance personal, developing options to reach agreement and leading groups using these skills. Audience participation and role-playing scenarios are an important part of the workshop.

Travel assistance up to $800 available to academic participants.
