Project 1: COACh Workshop for Women Scientists in the U.S. and Africa on “Partnership Opportunities for Women in Water Education and Research”

Our Partnership for Women in Water Education and Research (POWWER) Workshop brought together women scientists from the U.S., Namibia and several other African countries that are working on water resource and ecology issues on the continent. Being one of the driest countries in Africa, Namibia is also one of the most advanced countries in the use and reuse of water. During the days together we described our research, shared stories, developed collaborations and planned for future activities. Was a fabulous event with many wonderful women I wish all our COACh members could meet! Stay in touch!
In the COACh tradition of these international scientific workshops, Ellen Wohl (Colorado State University) and I conducted a series of COACh Career Building Workshops for a large group of students, faculty and researchers from the Windhoek area after our POWWER workshop. We gave a record number of 5 COACh career workshops in one day to a very receptive and engaged audience. Thanks goes to the support of the National Commission on Research Science and Technology (NCRST) (http://www.ncrst.na/) for sponsoring these workshops. And a shout out to all the fantastic participants!
