Visiting Artist JUNG

French-Korean graphic novelist Jung will talk about his comics work on April 25 at 2:30 p.m. in Knight Library, and present the film he animated from his autobiographical comic, Approved for Adoption at the Bijou and the Northwest Film Center.

jung drawingJung Henin is a Korean-Belgian graphic artist, writer and animator. Since 1991, he has produced several well-known comics, including Kwaidan, and is a respected figure in the graphic arts community. Henin’s tumultuous youth as a South Korean adoptee in Belgium has provided the inspiration for much of his work, albeit in fantastical manifestations. In 2006, he published the black and white autobiographical work Skin Color: Honey, which would provided the basis for the animated film, Approved For Adoption, that centers around Henin’s upbringing.

Cosponsored with Holt International, Unifrance, and UO Comics & Cartoon Studies.
