Learning Goals

Learning goals—>Reflections on Learning goals

1.To further my graphic design knowledge and skills with Adobe programs

I’ve had one class previously years ago utilizing Illustrator, most of which skills I forgot until now. I learned different ways to achieve the same result in Illustrator. My graphic design knowledge has been broadened with lots of new terms, ways to think about design, and methods and platforms to present design.

2. Know that I can effectively communicate with a graphics specialist in a leadership role, in the future

Learning new vocabulary and all the hard work involved in designing/branding gives me a new appreciation for graphic specialists. I think I have a better understanding of what can realistically be expected as far as standards and goals now.

3. Be able to design a brand identity for an arts organization

By the end of the semester we have all effectively created a brand identity for an arts organization. I hope to be able to utilize this skill in the future with perhaps my own business or one I’m employed by. Definitely my favorite aspect of all my courses this semester!

4. Become comfortable with WordPress, since I have no prior experience to blogging and very little social-media experience

WordPress is easy to use!  I was intimidated at first, but it’s a simple way to blog and share things. I’d like to continue using WordPress in the future and maybe change around my layout a bit more.

5. Learn more about typography, it seems like a very powerful, yet simple way of communicating through design.

We were showed MANY brands and logos, presentations, and designs that had a strong use of typography. I was excited to see all the potential it has and want to explore more. We also learned a lot of technical terminology and helpful design tips that I didn’t previously know.
